THE MAGICIAN

The Magician is related to the tarot card of the magician – acting as an energizing card in the Major Arcana and depicts the force of will and drive to bring about your desires. This title is also related to the tarot as a universal language. 

We fantasise around the world of the pilgrim, going to Santiago de Compostela, gathering at the inn, playing tarot with other pilgrims coming from different backgrounds.

While the Tarot is a game, it is a serious game acting as a universal language. Using the card decks, every pilgrim tries to read the future while they are at same time moving, physically, towards certain future, reaching the goal with expectations and hopes, but nonetheless, with remorses and sadness.

All pilgrims are trying to leave the past behind, but they are attached to their own history.

And each pilgrim relies to the other to interpret the cards.

Wildpalms is in a pilgrimage too, towards Palermo, towards Sicily. It is not an itinerant exhibition, because itineracy means that once you come to a place, everything is set up. Solidified. The exhibition and the public.

A pilgrim exhibition means encounter.

But a simple encounter in the present, in the actual complexity in which actual encounter is taking place, then every encounter implies a negotiation with historical failures such as colonialism, gender, discrimination, discordance. Our pilgrim exhibition deals with the basis of the encounter between humans dealing with the temporary dimension of life. Past- Present -Future, while enjoying the geometry of the space.
