ARTE SANTANDER 2024
July 12–16, 2024
With Nika Fontaine and Mauricio Limón · Booth 3
Palacio de Exposiciones y Congresos, Santander, Spain

Wild Palms participated in Arte Santander 2024 with recent works by Nika Fontaine from her Dissolution series and works by Mauricio Limón de León from Homenajes, Instituto Deportivo Santa Cruz, and Memoria cartográfica del saber popular V.
Fontaine’s Dissolution series forms the second part of her research into the history of alchemy. She dissolves layers of pigment in organic glue to reveal the underlying strata, then adds oil paint to seal the surface and enrich its details and colors.

Fontaine describes this as a process of addition, subtraction, and enhancement. Like the refinement of the self and the practice of inner work, life builds layers of identity; by removing the shells, we reveal underlying truths and then nurture and enhance what remains.
Limón’s works presented at the fair included pieces from Homenajes, Instituto Deportivo Santa Cruz, and Memoria cartográfica del saber popular V, developed for the institutional exhibition El primero que ría in Paris, Madrid, and Düsseldorf between 2020 and 2023.
We were delighted to place a work by Mauricio Limón in Colección Norte, the official collection of Cantabria.
