Rachel Libeskind’s Debut Solo Museum Exhibition: The Golden Record

We are thrilled to present Rachel Libeskind’s first solo museum exhibition, The Golden Record, at the Jule Collins Smith Museum of Fine Art, open through December 8. Inspired by Auburn’s connection to NASA and the Voyager spacecraft’s iconic Golden Record—a gold-plated disc carrying Earth’s messages into the cosmos—Libeskind creates sculptural assemblages that serve as modern time capsules of human life, knowledge, and activity.

Libeskind’s work intricately gathers relics of daily life and African American folklore from Auburn’s Special Collections and Archives, weaving them into complex collages that reflect both domestic and religious spaces. Her research-driven approach explores the essence of civilization, mirroring the interstellar archive’s mission to communicate humanity’s story. Through her exhibition, Libeskind offers a profound reflection on our existence within societal structures, blending historical elements with contemporary artistic practice.

Don’t miss the opportunity to experience Rachel Libeskind’s visionary exploration of memory, culture, and the human spirit in this momentous exhibition
