ANDREAS STEINBRECHER

Born in Kazakhstan in 1984, Andreas moved to Germany with his parents at the age of four. Coming from a family of craftsmen, his talent and passion for drawing were recognized early on. Despite this, he first pursued a degree in graphic design at the University of Applied Sciences in Düsseldorf, which he successfully completed. After working as a freelance designer, Andreas chose to further his artistic development by enrolling at the Düsseldorf Art Academy in 2017. Studying under Professor Thomas Scheibitz, he completed his degree in spring 2023.
Andreas lives and works in Düsseldorf.

EXHIBITIONS

Large-scale painting by Andreas Steinbrecher from the exhibition ‘Ruf der Trompeten’ at wildpalms, Düsseldorf, curated by Jorge Sanguino and Alexandra Meffert. The artwork prominently features Steinbrecher’s signature elements, including a stylized cat and collage-like visual structures. Expressive black linework weaves through abstract forms in yellow, white, and purple, creating a fluid composition. The cat, a recurring motif in Steinbrecher’s work, interacts with fragmented figures and dynamic shapes, evoking themes of movement, identity, and transformation. Displayed in a bright gallery space, the painting is positioned alongside another of the artist’s works, reinforcing his distinctive visual language within the context of contemporary new painting and the Düsseldorf Akademie tradition.”
